Assessor Appeal Questions

  • Prior to April 1, contact the Assessor's Office to discuss the valuation. The valuation may be changed by the assessor or staff until April 1 of the current assessment year. After April 1, The property owner may request an informal review of their property by contacting the assessor's office but will still be required to file an appeal with the Board of Review if an adjustment is agreed upon. Property owners who wish to challenge the assessed value of their property may file a written appeal with the local board of review between April 7th and May 5th. In odd numbered years when an equalization order resulting in an increase in value is issued by the Department of Revenue, property owners may file a written appeal between October 16th and October 25th. Petition forms to the board of review are available at the local assessor’s office.
